Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): In this method, I work with you to uncover the roots of your challenges, explore the beliefs shaped by past experiences, and reframe unhelpful thoughts to foster healthier self-talk. Often used with anxiety work.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): Is a type of trauma-focused therapy where we look at the beliefs and messages you’ve carried from your experiences. Together, we work on shifting the ones that feel heavy or unhelpful, so you can feel lighter and more in control. The nice thing is, you don’t have to go into all the details of your trauma for this to be helpful.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Is a therapy that uses eye movements (or other kinds of gentle back-and-forth stimulation) to help your brain process trauma, release emotions and traumas from our bodies, so it doesn’t feel as overwhelming. It can ease things like anxiety, flashbacks, and triggers—and you don’t have to go into all the details of what happened for it to work. It goes with the premise that the body has the ability to heal itself.
Motivational Interviewing: This method is used primarily in substance use disorders, and helps with ambivalence with sobriety and meeting goals. This method can also help with gaining motivation in general, and I do use it in other mental health areas as well.
Person centered: First and foremost, I am always person centered! This means I understand that everyone’s brain is different, and no one gets a “cookie cutter” treatment. It also means you are in charge of your therapy and treatment the direction you would like it to flow.
Solution Focused Therapy: This method is used to help client build their resources within themselves, of what is working well, what is helping, and focusing on your natural strengths.
